Japan Continued

Japan Continued

The interesting thing for me in my fast-paced role in construction and real estate was being able to enjoy the local culture. It was during a new site development visit in 2006 to Japan when I first tasted REAL Tempura food and the cultural importance of meals.

It was this trip when I was introduced to many Japanese traditions, like Sake. There are many versions of this drink, hot and cold. I learned that it is bad manners to fill your own cup, rather it should be filled by another at your table.

The morning after is when I discovered Japanese gardens. Quiet and unrushed, you can walk through amazing gardens with several spots for prayer and introspect.

I found this Shinto shrine captivating. Made mostly of wood, which spoke to the Carpenter in me, I felt this was a memory I wanted to preserve.
